Toughbook wanted
« on: 17 April, 2016, 15:49:43 »
Hi Guys

I'm interested in getting a toughbook for memory map, as I don't fancy wrecking my ipad but it was useless on the last trip due to no gps...

Does anyone one have one they no longer require or know of any local?

If it isn't broke don't fix it,
if it is broke where's the duct tape and WD40?

My Samsung Galaxy tab kept losing signal out laning.

Think the GPS runs on mobile phone network, no network, no GPS.

It did work well with a separate paired GPS receiver although was tricky to pair at times with the app I used.

Sometimes the map disappeared on the screen, even after downloading all UK areas.

Find my tablet is great when I have got phone signalbut as others it stops when you loose signal better off with something with a proper GPS

Anyone wants a cheap and cheerful set up thers a couple of Mio p350 PDAs on fleabay at the minute very stable systems for less than 20 but you will need older (pre Windows 8) pc to make them work properly with memory map

Why go to the grave all pristine and thinking "I wish I'd tried that"... Why not slide in sideways all washed up. worn out &  shouting Woo Hoo
